ONE SECOND JAPANESE DEBUT

Good morning from Australia guys! I have the Tim Tams of multiple flavours packed in my suitcase and the tin of Milo waiting for me to stuff inside my bags. I even have Allen lollies my mum kindly brought in bulk for me to have a helping of diabetes even once I arrive in Japan. Usually I just survive on rice and frozen vegetables alone (or fried noodles, I always make fried noodles) so having some sugar will put me on a high until I probably eat all the bags in one night. I’m still considering trying to stuff some cream Lamingtons in my suitcase and testing their survival, I’ll let you know how I go with that one.

So this is just a small post to share a little something something that I have hardly shared with anyone because: 1) Somehow I don’t think it’s something to brag about.

2) It’s kind of embarrassing.

3) Being a foreigner in Japan I am a rarity and therefore opportunities such as this are not so rare.

But anyway this here is a commercial I feature in.

I have an entire line, “SHIMASHITA!” which translates to “I did it!”

I had totally forgot about filming this months ago until it finally made it to TV and two old work colleagues text me in confusion saying they saw a human with a resemblance to yours truly on television. I had to confirm their confusions by informing them that the human was in fact me. A week or so after those texts a woman I work with currently pointed ecstatically me as I went to clock in behind her,

“You’re on a commercial!!”

“Ah, yes I guess I am.”

“I told my daughter, ‘I work with that girl!"

How people manage to notice my figure which appears for about one second in the corner of a commercial is beyond me. Not to mention the film crew forced me into clothing that makes me look like a golfer on a Sunday afternoon and the post production team made be a blonde.

Anyway, particularly for the family members I haven’t showed, have a good laugh at this one.
